As a guild we are very interested in teaching youth in our communities about the joy of quilting. Each summer several classes are arranged at local libraries where students make and complete a lap size quilt for them to take home. All materials are provided by our guild, with many of the materials donated by members, local shops and corporate sponsorships.
During the Iowa State Fair, each year, a Sew-In is set up for visitors to come and sew lap size quilts that will be donated to statewide children’s charities. Veteran quilters as well as anyone who wants to learn are invited to sit and sew for as long as they want. All materials are provided by our guild, with many of the materials donated by my members, local shops and corporate sponsorships.
