Questions about entering a quilt.
Questions about judging.
Questions about preparing my quilt.
Questions about dropping off my quilt.
Questions about attending the show.
Questions about volunteering.
Which category do I choose for my quilt?
You must choose one and only one category to enter your quilt. If the
quilt is quilted by someone else, this DOES NOT require that it be
entered in the group category. This is different than the state fair
definition. Please choose the category you think is most
appropriate for your quilt.
The following is a list of definitions to help you when filling out the entry form:
Minimum Minimum Maximum Maximum
Category Dimension Perimeter Dimension Perimeter
Miniature < 20” x 20” 80”
Small > 20” x 20” 80” < 40” x 40” 160”
Wall > 40” x 40” 160” < 60” x 60” 240”
Large > 60” x 60” 240” <110” x 110” 440”
< means less than > means greater than or equal to perimeter means the sum of all sides
Note: Quilts
that are round, rectangular, oval or other unusual shape should use a
circumference or perimeter measurement and be entered in the most
applicable size category.
The entry deadline of
July 15, 2008 will be strictly enforced. If entries
are not received by this date, the quilt will not be
displayed. The same is true for judging fees. If you want
your quilt(s) to be judged, the $5 per quilt fee must also
be received by this date in order to be judged
I can't enter fractions for the size. What do I do?
Just round up to the nearest inch. The size is used to help determine
how much space we'll need to hang the show.
If I want to enter my quilts in the show, do they have to be judged?
No. Having your entry judged is optional. Members decide if they want a
particular entry judged and then mark the registration to indicate yes
or no.
Is there a charge for having a quilt judged?
Yes. there is a $5.00/entry charge for having a quilt judged.
Can I have all my entries judged?
We have not set a limit on the number of entries each guild member may
have judged. All entries are eligible to be judged with the exception of
the guild Challenge entries. Challenge entries are not being judged this
year; they are, however, included in “Viewers’ Choice” voting and
ribbons. (Note: Items donated for the Little Quilt Silent Auction are
not judged.)
When will the entries be judged?
Who will be involved in doing the judging?
Who will see the judges’ comments about my entry?
Where do I drop off my quilts?
Again this year, we have a couple of options for all our members to get the quilts they have entered in our show delivered. Please read these instructions carefully.
ALL ENTRIES MUST BE CLEAN AND FREE OF PET HAIR AND ODOR.
ENTRIES CANNOT BE DELIVERED DIRECTLY TO THE IOWA EVENTS CENTER
JUDGED ENTRIES:
Quilts that have been entered to be judged must be dropped off at Creekside
Quilting in Clive beginning Friday, September 26, 2008 through Tuesday,
September 30, 2008. Quilts being dropped off should each be placed inside a
clean pillowcase, we will not be able to return the exact pillowcase at
the end of the show -- folded in such a way that the plastic bag with
your confirmation slip is easily visible without removing the entire
quilt from the pillowcase. One quilt per pillowcase please.
If you have any questions regarding Judged entries or information to ship your judged quilt for the DMAQG show, please contact Mary Booth
