Sheila Green from the

International Quilt Study Center & Museum

Lincoln, Nebraska

 1:oopm & 7:00pm -

“3500 Quilts and Counting:  A Volunteer’s Perspective”

This talk covers the history of the museum through what they are doing today.  Sheila will give us information about what she does at the museum as a volunteer, classes that she has taught at the museum, and how the Lincoln and Nebraska State Quilt guild support the museum.

Sheila lives in Lincoln with her husband Ken.  She started quilting 15 years ago.  She has taught quilting to children and adults and has lead workshops in the public schools, The Museum of Nebraska History and the International Quilt Study Center and Museum and is on the Board of the FRIENDS of the International Quilt Study Center and Museum.  She loves researching the exhibitions and sharing the history for the art of quilting with the museum visitors, young and old.

Since the museum’s quilt collection is preserved in a controlled atmosphere, Sheila will not be able to bring any quilts with her.  However, part of her program will be a power point presentation with pictures of some of the 3500 quilts.

Please invite others whom you think might enjoy this program.  The lecture fee for non- members is only $5. ________________________________________________________________________

From the President

I hope you are working on your President's challenge and thinking of the Winter Wonderland we had earlier this year.  The heat index and water levels continue to bring us inside so what better thing do you have to do but quilt.  Thank goodness for air conditioning.  If there are any of you that procrastinate like me, you are working to finish the projects you entered into this year's show.  I always need that deadline to get things done.  Peggy has done a tremendous job in lining up lectures and classes to inspire our quilts this year and it has been great to see them at Show and Tell.

I hope to see you at the Women's Health Charity Auction on August 24th.  It is always inspiring and awesome to see the work of many hands helping to aid in research and aid those who have health needs.  We are so fortunate to have quilting to share in those challenging times and friends that understand how important it is to hold each other up.  The auction is meant to be an evening of fun and time to share.  Hope to see you there!
