|Upcoming Program |
On Tuesday, October 26 the DMAQG will be visited by Vikki Pignatelli.
The afternoon lecture is titled "10 Attributes That Make A Good Quilter Better". What does it take to be a great quilter? Vikki discusses how she learned these attributes the hard way while creating her quilts.
In the evening, Vikki's lecture is "When I Grow Up I Want To Be a Quilter". She will talk about how everything learned from past projects contribute to and enrich her work in quilts today.
Vikki entered the world of quilting in 1991 at the urging of her sister and fellow quilter, Augie Ellis. After attending a beginner's class she fell in love with the art of quilting. Now
a fulltime professional quilt
artist, designer, lecturer, international teacher,
and author, Vikki and her quilts have been featured in many books,
national publications and exhibitions. She has won 32 awards in national and international competitions and exhibitions.
Vikki's focus is to inspire, nurture and develop the artistry and self-confidence within each quilter.
meetings are held at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the West Des Moines
United Methodist Church at 8th & Grand, in West Des Moines, Iowa.

What a wonderful quilt show. You did yourselves proud
again. I love to walk and see all the quilt exhibits, hit the
vendors and then do it all over again! THANKS to all who made it
happen. Without all the committee meetings, support, and volunteer
efforts it would not be possible. Special THANKS to Barb and Julia
for leading the effort this year and to your committee! There are
faces and bodies that take a brutal beating every year taking the lead
to get quilts hung: Jill, Mary, Lynn, Barb, Diane, and so many
others. Please be sure to greet them with your THANKS, it is no
small undertaking to make everything look like it's an everyday
event. I know I have missed many and my apologies but my mind is
so full of ideas with the new tools, fabrics, books, and patterns that
made it into my arms and right to the cash register.
about new tools, did you buy one that you could use for
the President's challenge! I hope many of you are working on yours
now the show is over. Can't waste a minute without something to
aim for, can we? Again they will be hung and judged at the
December Tea which is on December 4th (which I hope will be a beautiful
sunny day and not a WINTER WONDERLAND).
did the year go? Don't be shy to call any of the Board Members if
you have questions about joining the Guild Board. We have a few
spots left and we have a lot of fun! We have board meetings the
first Monday of the month and they last approximately 1 to 1 1/2
hours. Mary Shotwell, Missie Carpenter and I will be meeting and
starting our call campaign. Please be nice and eliminate our need
to call. Join today!
See you at the October meeting!
