President’s Challenge

2024 My Quilting Journey

In conjunction with the theme of the 2024 quilt show “Our Quilting Legacy – Honoring our Past and Inspiring our Future”, the theme of this year’s president’s challenge is “My Quilting Journey”.  The design of the quilt should represent some part of your quilting journey.

The most exciting part of the president’s challenge is that it is also a fabric challenge.  Fabric designer, Riley Blake Designs has generously offered to provide a ½ yard cut of fabric from their new line of batik fabrics to each participant.

Quilt requirements include:

  • The quilt needs to relate to the theme, “My Quilting Journey”
  • Use the fabric provided by Riley Blake Designs prominently in the quilt.  Add other fabrics of your choosing to complement the fabric provided.
  • The quilt can be rectangular or square, 36”- 60” wide by 48” to 72” long.
  • It can be pieced or appliquéd.  It can include any type of embellishments.
  • The quilt can be made from a pattern or it can be an original design.
  • Enter and display the quilt in the President’s Challenge special exhibit at the 2024 quilt show.
  • Write a brief summary of how the quilt relates to your quilting journey.  This will be included on the placard that will be attached to the quilt during the show.
  • Provide a 3” square of the Riley Blake fabric with your entry form.  It will be attached to your placard at the show.

The fabric provided by Riley Blake will be available at the January meeting.  To ensure that this fabric goes to individuals who are committed to making a quilt for the President’s Challenge, we are asking that you leave a $20 deposit when you pick up the fabric. The $20 will be returned to you when you complete and display the quilt in the 2024 quilt show.  Riley Blake is also going to provide a gift for your participation.  Let’s thank Riley Blake for the fabric and gifts by making this a great display!
