Location

All meetings and workshops will be held at the West Des Moines Christian Church at 4501 Mills Civic Parkway in West Des Moines. To get there from Interstate 35, exit at Mills Civic Parkway, exit 70. Turn east onto Mills Civic Parkway and drive about 0.9 mile. The West Des Moines Christian Church will be on the north side of Mills Civic Parkway. Meetings are in the Sanctuary in Building 2 and workshops are in Building 3.

January 28th – 8:30 to 11 :30 am
Susan Cleveland – Precision and Panache (Demonstration)

Learn to add eye-catching details to quilts and increase accuracy. No sewing supplies needed

 

January 29th – 9 am to 4 pm
Susan Cleveland – Piping Hot Binding

Every detail of binding and tiny perfect piping will be covered in class with step-by-step demonstrations and printed instructions

Suzanne Marshall – Wacky Bird

Suzanne is an award winning and published appliquér. Novice or seasoned, you will learn new techniques from her.

Catherine Redford  – Walking Foot Quilting Beyond the Ditch

Learn how to finish your quilts on a domestic machine while enjoying all the control of the walking foot.

It’s a log cabin made into a lone star quilt. Start with a 45 degree diamond and end with an amazing star quilt.

A twist on tradition. Explore creative ways to modify traditional block patterns.

Quilting through each block and batting makes quilting easy for both new and experienced quilters. Add the backing later for step two.

Improvisationally cut and piecing quarter-circle curves. No pinning or templates necessary.

A new “twist” on an old pattern. Make your bargello quilt appear to be moving in space.

Create an optical illusion. Make simple blocks appear to be three-dimensional.
